A lone figure stood atop a mountain of snow in the Centralia Center parking lot, a shovel in hand, as twilight settled on Wisconsin Rapids.

On Wednesday, Rich Heinz, 48, Grand Rapids, was starting his sculpting work for today's South Wood County annual Souper Spectacular Snow Sculpture event.

Heinz is no stranger to playing in the snow - he and assorted team members have participated in the animal shelter fundraiser since the inception of the event. He has had the same team - The Wailers, named for Bob Marley's back-up band - the past couple of years. ...
