Train leaks fuel in Kaukauna

A train traveling through Kaukauna Friday evening punctured a small hole in its engine and leaked an estimated 1,250 gallons of diesel fuel, authorities say.

Emergency crews shut down Wisconsin 96 between Depot and Gertrude streets for more than three hours as they worked to clean up the fuel. The Kaukauna Fire Department responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m. A hazmat team from Appleton Fire Department was later called to assist.
