? Operative Radar, a fellow "Fringe" fan and frequent spotter of all things Oshkosh, tipped us off that Kwik Trip opened its newest Oshkosh location just north of U.S. Highway 41 and Jackson Street on Thursday. You will recall this is the La Crosse company's sixth location in the Oshkosh area.
? During our tenure here in Aweskosh, Streetwise has learned Sawdust City has played host to more than its fair share of amusing personalities and institutions during its history. Local author Randy Domer has released a new book "Yesterday in Oshkosh: My Hometown" that looks specifically at Oshkosh in the '50s and '60s.
You can find it on the Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble websites, but if you want to support your local businesses, head downtown to Camera Casino, Park and Print or Paper Tiger to find a copy.
? Operatives Steve and DH each get a hat-tip for helping us get to the bottom of what appears to be the end of Horan's on Main, 328 E. Main St., in Omro. The restaurant went through several changes in 2012, but appears to have served its last meal for now.
? Operative Terry gets the nod for calling our attention to a new business in the Stein's plaza at Witzel Avenue and South Koeller Street (that's pronounced Kel-ler, by the way). Goin' Postal, 300 S. Koeller St. Suite G, offers shipping via any of the big four shippers, office supplies, stamps, cards, packing materials and a whole host of other services. Give them a call at (920) 230-2282 to find out more.
? Everyone, welcome Candice Galligan to the Oshkosh business fold. She has started selling Nerium International skin care products, which you can find at two local salons, L.A. Hair, 1300 Oshkosh Ave., and Ruby Slippers, 1500 Oregon St. You can find more information online at www.candicegalligan.nerium.com.
? Small businesses take note: You've got a direct line to Madison these days. State Rep. Mike Schraa, R-town of Algoma, was appointed to the Small Business Development Committee and wants your input on any business issues you encounter. His office number is (608) 267-7990.
? And finally, in our latest round of shameless self-promotion, the deadline is fast approaching to nominate someone for Oshkosh Northwestern Media's Four Under 40 package, which highlights the area's top young professionals. To date, we've gotten some great nominations, but know there are more out there. Email your nominees to email@example.com by Sunday, Feb. 10.
