San Francisco's Colin Kaepernick has become the latest poster boy for the newest NFL fad - the read-option offense. The read-option has become the rage in the NFL this season, but has had success at the high school and college level for years.

The 49ers second-year quarterback has helped his team reach the Super Bowl with a system that was previously dismissed as a gimmick offense that could only have success at lower levels and never work on the professional level.
