Hometown: Appleton

Current residence: Appleton

When attended UWFox: Fall 2012 to present

Background before UWFox: I graduated from Appleton East and the Tesla Engineering Charter School in 2012. After graduating from high school I was fortunate enough to acquire a summer job at PRESTO, a manufacturer of plastics. I worked 12 hours shifts, 6am to 6pm and 6pm to 6am every other fortnight. I rolled plastic sandwich bags into cartons and then packed the cartons into cardboard boxes. PRESTO showed me the significance of a good education. One weekend, I refereed a tournament in Neenah for seven hours and then worked my 12 hour shift later that day, totaling 19 hours in a 24 hour time period. Boy Scouts have been a big part of life. I was able to visit Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. For my Eagle Project, I designed and built benches for my church. I was elected to the Order of the Arrow, which is considered as the national honor society of Boy Scouts.

Why did you choose UWFox? I chose UWFox because of the financial aid I received from the campus. I also liked the concept of living at home for two more years.

Have you chosen a major? Mechanical Engineering

What are you learning that you find interesting and rewarding at UWFox? Having smaller classrooms at UWFox is very helpful for quality learning. I quickly and easily learned how to use AutoCad, a software application for computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting because of the teacher's desire to teach us.

What are your career plans after UWFox? I'll be transferring to UW-Platteville to continue my degree in mechanical engineering. At Platteville, I plan to receive an internship to see first-hand what I'll be doing daily in my career field.
