Johnsonville Skat tournament tradition may be ending as players age

A long tradition may be passing at Laack's Bar and Hall in Johnsonville as the number of people who play the card game Skat are dwindling.

On Saturday, card players from across the state gathered at Laack's for a traditional Skat tournament, perhaps for the last time.

"We have players from Green Bay, Milwaukee, Madison, Fond du Lac, Hustisford and Mayville," said Gary Gasper, an event sponsor and organizer. ...
