DNR, Canadian National work to clean train fuel spill

KAUKAUNA - The state's Department of Natural Resources is working alongside Canadian National Railway to clean up diesel fuel that leaked from a train's punctured tank within the city Friday evening.

The train struck a portion of track beside the main rail line that had been pushed up by frost, according to DNR Conservation Warden Michael Young. The small puncture in the train engine was about a quarter-inch wide. Fuel leaked for about a mile from the Lawe Street crossing almost to Gertrude Street.
