Fond du Lac man climbs Mount Rainier

Chris Stolte of Fond du Lac reached a pinnacle in his life - again.

A Mercury Marine employee, Stolte was among eight members of the Iowa State University Mountaineering and Climbing Club that reached the 14,410-summit of Mount Rainier on Jan. 2. It was the first successful winter climb of the season and 2013's first summit of the State of Washington peak.

A successful winter ascent of the mountain is highly prized, with less than 5 percent of all winter climbers reaching the summit, Stolte said. It was his second summit of Mount Rainier. ...
