A 47-year-old Fond du Lac man feels lucky to be alive after being rescued from the icy water of Lake Winnebago and is grateful to those who responded to his calls for help.

Kelly Milam was driving a snowmobile on the ice covering Lake Winnebago near Lakeside Park late Friday night when the vehicle broke through. His cries for help were heard by two neighbors who live on East Bank Street.

Laurie Stark and Mike Treptow drove around the park until they located Milam in the water about 250 feet from the shore. Stark called 911 and emergency crews responded immediately. ...
