Former Portage County DA named to Baldwin staff

Stevens Point native Bill Murat has been named chief of staff for U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin, according to a release from her office.

Murat had been Baldwin's chief of staff during her time in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2001 to 2012. He also previously served as Portage County District Attorney and as a state representative from the Stevens Point area. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, the University of Wisconsin and Columbia Business School.

Also named to positions were Carolyn Walser, who will serve as director of scheduling/executive assistant, Will Hansen, who will work as legislative director, and Doug Hill, who will be state director. Hill previously served on the staff of former Rep. Dave Obey for 15 years.
