The weekend's snowfall left Portage County roads slick and dangerous, leading to a number of weekend crashes including a fatality on Friday.

Rick Walters, 31, of the town of Hull, was killed at about 12:45 p.m. Friday when the driver a of vehicle he was riding in lost control on the icy roads on Interstate 39. Portage County Sheriff's officials released Walters name Monday.

The county had 56 crashes over the weekend, with nine of those in the village of Plover. Ten of those involved property damage, and another person was hurt during one of the crashes. ...
