A 15-year-old Wausau West High School sophomore who attended the inauguration of President Obama said she left Washington with dozens of new friends and a fresh view of the world.

On Jan. 19, Allison Senanayake traveled to Washington to participate in the High School Presidential Inaugural Conference, a five-day program aimed at inspiring leadership in young people around the world. Event spokeswoman Kristin Celauro said Senanayake was one of more than 3,500 scholars from the U.S. and 27 additional countries who attended the conference, including the inaugural ceremonies held Jan. ...
