Letter: Nothing gets done to fix state, country

That's quite a front page of the Daily Tribune Wednesday, Jan. 16. Kind of a Catch-22 for taxpayers. Across the front of the page "School district faces $3.4M shortfall" due to enrollment drop (maybe lack of jobs?), cut in state aid - who may have been responsible for that? Along with $451,900 in approved spending. Ever wonder where that's coming from?

And last, but not least, the third story "Walker: State moving forward" - where to? If you look at the above in this letter, you'll know where; and in a hand basket.

To cap it all off, another paper mill will close. More people without jobs. That's nothing new for the people in or near Wisconsin Rapids.

While everyone is pointing their finger at whose fault it is, nothing at all gets done. What's best for Wisconsin, or for the country for that matter, seems to be out of the realm of possibility.

It's sad for the taxpayer. Most of all, sad for our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. I saw a comic on TV the other night; he summed it up pretty well - "You just can't fix stupid."

Sincerely,

Jay Delpho
