State Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced his office has obtained a criminal judgment against David P. Musial of Manitowoc for violating Wisconsin's hazardous waste laws.

Musial has pleaded no contest to three misdemeanor counts of intentionally openly burning hazardous waste without a license and disposing of more than 1.5 gallons of volatile organic compound waste. Musial also was found to have not submitted a record of hazardous waste treatment, storage and disposal for the years 2008-09.

On Monday, Manitowoc County Circuit Judge Gary Bendix sentenced Musial to two years of probation, with a condition that he pay fines and costs totaling $5,850 and reimburse the Department of Natural Resources $16,287 for its investigative expenses.
