'Groundhog Day' featured midnight film

As a prelude to this year's Groundhog Day on Saturday, Feb. 2, the classic comedy movie by the same name will be shown in the return of the Friday Midnight Movies series at a new venue.

"Groundhog Day," starring Bill Murray, will start at 11:59 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at The Green Room Lounge at 353 Main Ave. in downtown De Pere. The location recently underwent a name change from Venture Theatre.

Admission is free for the movie. Performers from ComedyCity will sit in the audience to enhance the experience.

A different movie is shown at midnight the first Friday night of every month at The Green Room Lounge. For more information, including the lineup for future movies, go to www.comedycityonline.com.

Kids' programs at Kress Library

Kress Family Branch Library in downtown De Pere will hold the following upcoming programs for children and their parents/guardians:

? Friday, Feb. 1, 10:30 a.m. - meet Sideways and other live animals. Naturalists from Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary in Green Bay will present a special program featuring flying squirrel Sideways and friends.

? Wednesday, Feb. 6, 10:30 a.m. - "Stretch It Out Tots" program. An instructor from Bay Area Yoga Center will teach preschool-age children 3 and older yoga moves.

YWCA Mardi Gras on Feb. 10

YWCA Green Bay-De Pere will hold the second annual YWCA Mardi Gras from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at Koko Sushi Bar & Lounge, 301 N. Adams St., downtown Green Bay.

The event includes a New Orleans-style dinner, music by Talk of the Town, a silent auction and a raffle. Mardi Gras masks, beads and costumes can be worn.

Tickets are $40 per person in advance and $45 at the door. Proceeds from the event will benefit the YWCA's programs and services.
