The Oconto City Council is poised to take control of the hiring of city attorneys, though residents could petition to have the final say.

In the wake of Mayor Victoria Bostedt's attempt to replace Frank Calvert, the council voted 8-0 on Jan. 21 to change the city's ordinance on who appoints the city attorney.

Bostedt said she intends to veto the ordinance, though it seems likely the council will vote to override. ...
