Folk at the speed of sound: Trampled by Turtles

If you're not sick of the hootin' and hollerin' of stompy neo-folk la Mumford & Sons or The Lumineers, then you're about to be trampled.

Speed folkers Trampled By Turtles hit the Meyer Theater on Wednesday with no drums, no fancy effects, just five dudes from Duluth, Minn., playing traditional folk instruments and singing their hearts out. Oh, did we mention they play really, really fast?

TBT got together as a side project of separate bands. When those bands fell by the wayside, TBT didn't - or maybe vice versa. The group spent the better part of the new millennium relentlessly touring the Midwest, and with appearances in the last year at the Austin City Limits and Sasquatch music festivals and on "Conan'' and the ''Late Show with David Letterman,'' all with a hefty new record called ''Stars and Satellites'' under their collective belt, they're about due for a breakout.

TBT is stopping in Titletown on their way back home for their 10 Anniversary Minnesota Tour, which includes a sold-out, three-night stay at First Avenue in Minneapolis.
