Sheboygan teen accused of murder, Nathan Paape, to stay in adult court in murder case

Calling it one of the more "heinous" crimes he's seen in 23 years on the bench, a Sheboygan judge ruled Wednesday that the trial of a Sheboygan teen charged in the murder of an elderly Sheboygan Falls woman will remain in adult court.

Sheboygan County Circuit Court Judge Timothy Van Akkeren issued his ruling mid-morning, concluding a more than day-long hearing to decide whether to move 14-year-old Nathan Paape's case to juvenile court.

Van Akkeren said his decision was based on both the severity of the crime and the fact Paape would have access to the same mental health and education programs, ...
