Guest commentary: A tax cut we really don't need

Two articles cheek by jowl in a recent HTR caught my attention. One described a water main break in a Manitowoc trailer park, the other Gov. Scott Walker's plan to cut state income taxes.

My point is not to claim that Walker somehow caused the water main to break - it is simply to point out that there's a connection between tax revenue and the quality of public infrastructure. Yes, as a fire department official claimed, water main breaks happen in freeze-thaw conditions - but they also happen more often when piping is poorly maintained because we "can no longer afford" an intact public works staff.
