Two local dental offices shut down regular operations Friday to provide 75 area children with free dental care through a nationwide initiative to promote oral health.

The 'Give Kids a Smile' program, sponsored by the American Dental Association, aims to provide dental services to underserved children. Dentists and other team members volunteer their time and services to provide screenings, treatments and education to children. The ADA estimates that more than 9,000 children will receive $1.2 million in donated dental care this year in Wisconsin alone.
