Judge rules in favor of Rome property owners

A judge's decision to reverse his previous ruling could mean some property owners won an eight-year legal battle with Rome town officials.

In 2005, Rome enacted an ordinance limiting property owners to one camper per property, with a second camper allowed for a limited time each year. In 2006, the town Board of Appeals granted some property owners nonconforming-use permits with a five-year sunset clause.

A group of Rome residents filed a civil case against the town and the Rome Board of Appeals in March 2012, asking that the court rule the board exceeded its authority when it issued ...
