Domtar reports 31 percent decrease in earnings

Domtar Corp. had a 31.4 percent net earnings decrease during the fourth quarter, the Canadian papermaker announced Friday.

Domtar employs about 450 people at its Nekoosa facility and another 400 in Rothschild. It also continues to own its shuttered mill facility in Port Edwards, which closed in 2008.

The company posted net earnings of $19 million, or 54 cents a share, for the quarter, compared to $61 million during the same period in 2011, according to a Domtar news release. Sales for the quarter amounted to $1.3 billion, compared to $1.4 billion during the fourth quarter the year before. ...
