Dr. Jonathan Cotter of Birnamwood and his daughter, Emily, authors of the children's book "Emily Learns to Read," will hold a book signing event from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Sweet Temptations Cupcakerie LLC, 2519 Post Road, Plover.

Little Emily wants to read a bedtime story to Mommy tonight, but reading can be confusing at first. Building words from letters can be frustrating, and Emily starts to lose confidence. But after Mommy teaches Emily the colorful, fun word pictures, the lowercase letters are just like old friends. Before you know it, Emily learns to read. The goal of the book is to make reading fun for children.
