Marathon County Sheriff Randy Hoenisch is one of the most experienced in the state and also among the highest-paid for the position, according to a Gannett Wisconsin Media Investigative Team analysis.

Gannett Wisconsin Media, which includes Daily Herald Media, requested salary and benefits information for county employees paid $25,000 or more in 2011 and/or 2012.

At $97,843, Hoenisch's projected 2012 salary ranked behind only the sheriffs of Milwaukee, Dane and Rock counties, among the 65 counties that provided 2012 pay data. Trempealeaux, St. Croix, Washington, Waukesha, ...
