APPLETON — A man was arrested Tuesday after an officer called a stolen cell phone and found it ringing in a nearby coat pocket.

Horace J. Fields Jr., 41, is at the Outagamie County Jail on a probation violation and additional charges are forthcoming, according to the Appleton Police Department.

The cell phone went missing during a burglary at a N. Morrison Street home. The homeowner woke up and confronted a person trying to steal a TV, police say.

Appleton police and the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department K9 unit followed shoe prints that led from the home to a N. Oneida Street home, where they found the missing phone in a coat inside the home.
