1 Feb. 8 & 9 - The Wisconsin FFA Alumni annual meeting at the Holiday Inn in FDL. Hosted by Sections 6 and 10 of the Wisconsin FFA Alumni Association. Theme: "Renew the Mission - Advocates for Agriculture Education." Friday evening, the auction starts at 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday, it's immediately following the 5:30 p.m. awards banquet. 2 Feb. 8 - Senior Wellness Morning. 9 to 10 a.m. at Fond du Lac Senior Center, 151 E. First Street. Health Screenings for blood sugar, blood pressure and hearing. There will be booths by the UW-Extension on radon, Aging and Disability Resource Center, Above and Beyond Care Solutions, Agnesian Health Shoppe, Heartland Hospice, Good Vibrations, Senior Care Referral Specialists, Rescare, Kindred Hearts, Happy Travelers, Hospice Advantage and ManorCare. There will also be a demonstration on scarf tieing. Visit the secret vendor and you might be the lucky winner of an extra door prize. Visit 4 booths and be eligible for a bingo card for odd month bingo and the door prize furnished by our sponsor, Agnesian Healthcare. At 10 a.m. Dr. Heather Schmidt, a Fond du Lac Regional Clinic West family medicine physician, will speak on good health and give a cooking demonstration. Free and open to the public. Refreshments. 3 Feb. 9 - St. Mary's Springs Academy Preschool and Kindergarten Open House 9 a.m. to Noon. The event is open to 2 to 5-year-old children with their parents and/or grandparents. This is a great opportunity to meet our teachers and administrators, learn about our curriculum, and experience what a typical day is like in one of our classrooms. 4 Feb. 9 - Arc of Fond du Lac 50th Anniversary Gala 5 p.m. at the Retlaw Plaza Hotel in downtown FDL Guest speakers will include one of the founding fathers, the Arc of Wisconsin executive director, city manager, county executive and more. They will also be revealing their new logo, colors and tagline after the speeches. Tickets for the gala are $35 for the general public and $25 for the intellectual and developmental individuals. Experts from the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs, WI Dept. of Veterans Affairs, WI Dept. of Workforce Development and other federal, state and local agencies will be on hand to answer questions about and/or assist in applying for benefits
7 Feb. 9 - Whooo Goes There? Owls Exploring Nature Program 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Ice Age Visitor Center (located off Hwy. 67, one half mile west of Dundee). On silent wings owls fly through the night! Join us as we investigate how owls are adapted to be such terrific nighttime hunters. This program is best for families/groups with children between the ages of 6 and 12 years.

9 Feb. 10 & 11 - FDL Community Theatre auditions: "Secrets Every Smart Traveler Should Know" 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday; 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, at the Community Theatre Building, 250 W. Ninth St. This musical comedy review showcases the joys and perils of traveling. Everything from the coach class blues to pesky customs officials is lampooned in this show. We are seeking a diverse cast of 8-10 men and women. Those planning to audition should prepare a brief monologue and sixteen bars of music (sample monologues will be available). Auditions are open to all and we encourage new people to come! Rehearsals will be held week nights and some Saturday mornings. Performance dates for this FDL production are April 18-21.
