Three lawmakers walked away from their visits to the potential site for an iron ore mine in northern Wisconsin with opinions split down a party line.

Sen. Rick Gudex, R-Fond du Lac, and Rep. Michael Schraa, R-Oshkosh, are enthusiastic supporters of the mining bill, and said it will provide the jobs and investment needed to boost the economy in a depressed area of the state. Rep. Gordon Hintz, D-Oshkosh, said environmental concerns and potential legal challenges complicate the issue.
