We asked Patty Kilgore about what she gains from her fitness classes in this month’s Workout Q and A.

Q: What inspires you to exercise?

A: “I want to take care of myself as I’m getting older. It’s important to stay strong. The yoga helps with flexibility and makes me feel good.”

Q: What is your favorite exercise equipment?

A: “I like to use the elliptical; it’s just easier on your joints. I like the motion of the machine. It makes me work, gets my heart rate up.”

Q: What is your favorite workout song or music?

“Everything from pop to ‘70s and ‘80s, variety makes exercise fun.”

Q: What is your favorite exercise video or book?

“I’ve never done any.”

Q: What is your favorite fitness activity that does not seem like a workout?

“I enjoy all of them.”

Q: Your favorite trainer?

“Celine Kline and Dan Anderson (at the Woodson YMCA) are both very knowledgeable.”

Q: What are your wellness goals for 2013?

“To keep improving in yoga, especially.”

– Patty Kilgore, 51, of Wausau
