Stop leads to stolen vehicle recovery

Wisconsin Rapids officers recovered a stolen vehicle after an officer made a traffic stop for a burned-out headlight, authorities say.

At about 2:15 a.m. Monday, an officer saw a vehicle with a burned-out headlight near the intersection of Second Avenue and Jackson Street, according to a news release from the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department. The officer turned around to do a traffic stop, but the vehicle he was trying to stop lost control and hit a snowbank. The driver then fled on foot.
