Brown Co. homeless count finds 10% more on streets

In another sign of worsening homelessness in the Green Bay area, volunteers have found more people this winter living in shelters and on the streets, including one man who tried to survive a snowstorm in a tent.

The Brown County Homeless & Housing Coalition reported finding 481 homeless people during a countywide canvass, which is 10 percent more than the 435 people found in the same exercise last winter.

Officials said the headcount included 11 people found living on the streets - up from 10 a year ago - including one man who was discovered living in a tent along Baird Creek. ...
