Artista! Players will perform the group's first musical in three upcoming shows of "The Fantasticks" over Valentine's Day holiday weekend.

Scott Fritsche will direct a cast of eight, including himself, in the production "loosely based off Romeo and Juliet," he said. In the first act, two neighbors' children get married. Act two finds them dealing with the reality and struggles of life. It's a love story written in the late 1950s. Fritsch said the characters are "just real honest, basic people."

The cast will be accompanied by a four-piece musical combo playing favorites from the production including "Try To Remember."

"We're very excited to do a musical," Fritsch said.

The shows Feb. 14 to 16 begin immediately following 6:30 p.m. dinner at the Tamarack Room at Hoffman House in Rib Mountain, 2901 Hummingbird Road. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $40 for dinner and the musical.
