Stevens Point must find a new buyer for the former Dunham's sporting goods building after a disagreement over parking killed a deal with a local developer.

"(The buyer) wanted a guarantee that the parking will stay public parking, in essence, forever," said Mayor Andrew Halverson. "From what we see, they are not comfortable moving forward without knowing that is going to be public parking ... forever."

In January, Schertz-Fahrner LLC agreed to buy the former Dunham's building, 1101 Centerpoint Drive, for about $400,000. A few weeks later, the city unveiled plans to turn the space ...
