Weston Village Board approves Weston Fest hiatus in 2013

Village Board members Monday night voted to postpone Weston Fest until 2014, citing lack of interest by staff members and local businesses.

The four-year-old event, which has attracted about 6,000 people in the past, relies heavily on village staff members who volunteer their time and local businesses that donate money.

Weston Fest is a family-friendly event centered around health and wellness activities. The village of Weston contributes between $5,000 and $12,000 each year from room tax funds, while donations from local businesses and residents fund about $20,000 to $30,000 each ...
