Ripon Medical Center has scheduled an open support group for adults experiencing grief on Thursday, Feb. 14. The free group will continue to meet the second Thursday of each month.
Sponsored by Agnesian HealthCare's Bereavement Services, the program is designed to help participants cope with the death of a loved one in an informative and supportive group setting.
In addition to a general overview of the grieving process, participants will also learn differences in grieving, how to manage their grief, past grief experiences, and how to prepare for and face special days such as holidays, birthdays and anniversaries.
Other topics to be addressed include spirituality and grieving, how to help others cope with their loss, and the importance of closure - how to go on after saying "good-bye."
Facilitated by S. Joyann Repp, MSN, RN, Agnesian HealthCare bereavement counselor, meetings will be held in Ripon Medical Center's Princeton Room, 933 Newbury St., Ripon, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and will include a time for informal group discussion. This is an open group where all those interested may attend. Anyone can come to any of the meetings and different individuals may be present each time. There is no cost for attending the sessions.
