SCORE, a nonprofit volunteer business advice organization will hold an organizing luncheon meeting at the Oasis Restaurant on Monday, Feb. 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., for potential volunteers in the Fond du Lac and surrounding areas. If you want to help Fond du Lac become a thriving community where small businesses are encouraged and supported, find out how SCORE can help you give back to your community.

As the economy turns up, small businesses need your experience to answer and guide them forward. Small businesses often cannot afford to hire experienced consultants to help them sort through the maze of questions of how to start up or approach business issues. Many of you have already walked through these questions and can help them. If you have business or business related education experience and want to see your community grow and thrive, come find out how SCORE can offer your experience to these small business entrepreneurs.

At this meeting you will find out what volunteers do and how SCORE can use your expertise. This is a volunteer opportunity that offers flexibility while using the many skills you have already obtained. You will meet Fond du Lac business background volunteers who bring interesting experiences and expert skills to meet the needs of new and existing small businesses. You will learn how SCORE reaches out to small businesses by meeting face-to-face, online and/or on the phone while supporting you with business resources and information.

Flexibility in both time and volunteer roles allows you to choose to counsel or provide specialty services only or some of both. Most volunteers have owned and operated their own business or have professional backgrounds. Volunteers may be retired, members of a company's community service organization or part of a pro bono service. If you have experience in managing a business, helping businesses in operations, marketing, engineering, managing projects, business or patent law, banking, accounting, admin, public relations, personnel, website development or information technology, this is an opportunity for you to work and network with other business people who want to give back to their community by helping small businesses succeed and create jobs.

To register for this free luncheon meeting, contact SCORE at 920-734-7101; or go to www.foxcities.score.org and click on the Contact Us link. Please register by Feb 15.
