Library Lover's month will be celebrated all month long with special rewards and contests. Sign a heart for our display, and your name will be entered into a book drawing at the end of the month. Children can guess the number of treats in the jar for a sweet reward; and adults can register each time they check out for a treat from Confections by Joel, in time for Valentine's Day! Staff will be awarding daily prizes to those who "get caught reading" at the library. So count on your visits to the library this month to be doubly rewarding!!

Anyone is invited to attend our special program on Valentine's Day from 4 to 5:30 p.m., hosted by UW-Extension Family Living Coordinator Amanda Miller. The program, entitled "The Heart Truth" will focus on topics such as risk factors, and how a healthy lifestyle can benefit your heart health. A light supper will be served, and you can pick up some recipes to try at home. The program will be held in the village community room, and is free and open to the public.

February also marks the month that Oakfield itself was settled. Originally called Lime because of the abundance of the material in the area, it's name was later changed to Avoca, and then Oakfield. On Feb. 19, 2001, the library moved into it's current location on Main Street.

We will be focusing on our rich history here in Oakfield with displays, photos, and historic memorabilia all this month. We will be hosting a program on Oakfield's history, with special attention to Oakfield Brickyard at the end of February.

If you have any items of historical significance that you are willing to share for our presentation, please contact the library, or bring them along to the program. We will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 27, in the community room. All are welcome to attend this special event.

Ongoing events at the library this month include:

? Teen book club on Feb. 20 at 6 p.m., with pizza and refreshments offered.

? Knitting/crochet group meets each Tuesday at 3 p.m.

? Preschool storytime held every Tuesday at 10:15 a.m.

Library hours are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 1 to 7 p.m.; Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Friday from noon to 5 p.m. View what you have checked out on your account; pay fines online; place holds; and more on our Website www.oakfieldlibrary.org
