Homeless, refugee stories ironic

Recently, the Green Bay Press-Gazette featured several stories about the homeless situation and its relation to the massive unemployment in our struggling economy.

Then in an ironic twist, a small article was published Jan. 25 that stated the federal government will spend $1.5 million this year to relocate about 1,000 refugees in six Wisconsin cities including Green Bay.

The listed definition of a refugee is the same as it was a century ago when immigrants sought asylum here, but the big difference is now they have a prepaid lifestyle waiting for them. Land of the free and home of the skyrocketing debt ceiling.
