Kaitlyn Collins, the former Green Bay Packers cheerleader who fought back against Chicago Bears fans who bullied her on Facebook, said she’s been “overwhelmed with all the wonderful support I’ve gotten.”

Collins appeared Monday morning on NBC’s “Today” show.

On Feb. 4, the Chicago Bears Fan page on Facebook posted a photo of Collins with this note: “Like If You Agree The Packers Have The Worst Cheerleaders In The NFL!” That led to dozens of unflattering comments.

“We all struggle with body images,” Collins said. “For somebody to go online and type those kind of things on a picture of mine for everybody to see, it was very hurtful.”

Collins created a YouTube video in which she silently held up signs explaining the situation and asked for help in getting the photo taken down. She also urged viewers to fight cyberbullying.

After the Bears Fan page was deluged with hundreds of comments and complaints, it deleted the post with Collins’ photo on Thursday.

Collins, who lives in Eagle River, cheered for the Packers in 2009, when she was a student at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. She last attended UWGB in the spring of 2010, according to university records.

The Packers use cheerleaders from UWGB and St. Norbert College on the sidelines at their games.
