The Salvation Army of Brown County's Red Kettle Christmas campaign came up short of its $1.2 million goal, officials said this morning.

The campaign reached $1,093,488, about 9 percent short of the goal.

"While there are some signs pointing to an improving economy, the need remains high in the community," Brown County coordinator Captain Ken Shiels said. "At the same time, it appears that people are still cautious with their charitable dollars." ...
