With about a half an inch of rain Sunday on top of the seven to eight inches of snow blocking the catch basins - those grates on city street corners - area residents may be seeing some standing water, said Kevin Glaeser, operations manager with the city of Manitowoc.

"We have been going around yesterday and today getting the flow established again," Glaeser said Monday.

If residents are physically able to clear the catch basins themselves, it helps the department and can help prevent pooling water, he said. ...
