The Oconto City Council was scheduled to consider approval Tuesday of an agreement with the town of Little River to annex the proposed 14.6 acres for a new county jail, as well as the road leading to it.

An OK from the city is the final step before the county can proceed with the $25 million jail project.

The agreement was forwarded to the full council after two committees approved it at a joint meeting Feb. 6. The Industrial Development Committee had approved it Dec. 10, but the Finance Committee on Jan. 8 raised questions about the proposed $8,000 payment to the town, prompting the Feb. 6 meeting. ...
