Some Brown County employees have been migrating south, but not because of the weather.

Workers have been leaving for jobs in Outagamie and other counties to the south of Brown, many lured by higher pay for similar jobs. The trend has prompted Brown County leaders to consider increasing pay to stay competitive.

Brown County officials seem most concerned about losses of managers in the human services department, fearing that the quality of service will suffer. But they also fear that the county could be at risk of losing department heads because pay is higher in a number of other counties. ...
