Appleton schools gear up for 4K program

The Appleton Area School District has selected 25 child care sites in the Fox Cities to launch its half-day 4-year-old kindergarten program this fall.

Four elementary schools will be added in the spring to the list of sites for the free and voluntary program, said Judy Basemen, Appleton Area School District assistant superintendent. Parents can enroll children in a morning or afternoon session.

In Wisconsin, 375 school districts - including Hortonville, Kaukauna, Kimberly and Little Chute - offer 4K programming to students, according to the Department of Public Instruction. Neenah ...
