Owners of a.boutique, a women’s clothing shop in downtown Appleton, have decided to close their doors by the end of the month after nearly seven years in business.

“We decided to close mainly based on where we all were personally in our lives,” said Lydia Anderson, co-owner of the store at 103 W. College Ave. in the ground floor of the Zuelke Building.

She opened the shop in 2006 with her mother, Sara Plzak, and aunt, Molly Huss. A few years later, her childhood friend Rachel Gauthier joined them as co-owner and full-time store manager.

“Rachel’s due to have a baby. I have three children at home,” said Anderson. “The other two owners are more than happy to move on. We’re all really good with this. It was time to close this chapter for us. We made a lot of amazing relationships with people in the community that will continue.”

The store has begun a progressive sale with 30 percent off. It wraps up with 50 to 75 percent off from Feb. 25 through 27. All merchandise, Anderson said, is from the current season. Sale hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
