Schmitt enlists state help on homeless issues

Secretary of Veterans Affairs John Scocos met recently with with Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt to talk about possible solutions to the city's homelessness problem.

Schmitt invited Scocos to town amid an ongoing battle between the city and St. John the Evangelist Homeless Shelter about the shelter's capacity. The city accused the shelter of violating a city permit by exceeding occupancy limits at its downtown facility, and the the two are trying to negotiate a settlement.
