DUESSELDORF, GERMANY - OCTOBER 06: Voca People attends the 200th 'Wetten dass..?' show at the ISS Dome on October 6, 2012 in Duesseldorf, Germany. Markus Lanz hosts his first show today, having succeeded Thomas Gottschalk, who had hosted the show since 1987 and terminated his career after an accident that left one of the show's candidates paralysed. OK, so it might sound a little weird: An a cappella group based out of Israel that wears all white and white face paint (except for red lips) plays aliens from somewhere behind the sun and can only communicate through music.
The Voca People don't use instruments. They don't use sound effects. It's all music. From Mozart to hip-hop, from "Rocky" to "My Heart Will Go On," the music is familiar. And they're a YouTube hit, garnering more than 20 million views for their unique interpretations of popular songs.
The international show features more than 70 songs using only beatboxing and singing. Before arriving at the Weidner Center this weekend on their current trip across America, they've beamed into "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" and "Live with Regis & Kelly."
