The day after one of the biggest chocolate buying days of the year, a prominent chocolate store said it is about to close its doors.
Godiva’s last selling day will be next Friday, Feb. 22, in the Fox River Mall’s Macy’s wing. The store had been there since 2002.
A New York-based spokeswoman for the brand was not immediately available to comment.
John Burgland, mall manager, said the store was at the end of its lease and that a new retailer has already claimed the spot. He didn’t say the name of the new store as the lease is not finalized.
Godiva is known for is fine Belgian chocolates and truffles in signature gold boxes.
The store is currently running at 25 percent off sale.
