Upper Midwest ag land prices up in 2012

The value of "good" farmland in the upper Midwest increased 16 percent last year, despite drought in many parts of the region.

In a report issued Thursday, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago said prices in Wisconsin were up 11 percent during 2012. Prices in the eastern part of the state - in an area including Brown County - were up about 10 percent, according to the report.

The report covers Michigan, Iowa, and parts of Wisconsin, Indiana and Illinois. ...
