The very Rev. James Baraniak, O. Praem., was named prior of the Canonry of St. Norbert Abbey, De Pere, effective March 19. As prior, Baraniak is vicar of the Abbot. The prior reaches out to those who serve and live within the Norbertine context and ministers to them on a one-to-one basis. Father Baraniak succeeds Father James Herring, O. Praem., who served as prior since June 2005. Baraniak is a member of Bishop Ricken's Catholic Schools Initiative Task Force, and the Catholic Athletes for Christ board of directors. He has served the Green Bay Packers as chaplain and sacramental minister at the Green Bay Correctional Institution.
