Scott Resnick always wanted to be involved in politics, but there is some irony at work as the 26-year-old begins a campaign to keep his seat on the Madison City Council.

Resnick, a 2005 graduate of Wausau East High School and an early member of the Wausau Mayor's Youth Action Council, grew up thinking he would be involved in politics. But his intent was to work on the staff of former U.S. Rep. Dave Obey of Wausau or on campaigns of other progressive candidates.

Running for elected office, however, wasn't part of his plan. ...
